{Release Blitz & Book Review}: Before I'm Gone by Heidi McLaughlin

Title: Before I'm Gone Author: Heidi McLaughlin Genre: Contemporary/ women Fiction Release Date: November 7, 2023

New York Times bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin tells a poignant story about living life to the fullest—and savoring the small moments along the way.

Palmer Sinclair has never needed anyone’s help. A successful loan officer, she’s all work and no play. But when splitting headaches and blurred vision begin to affect her job, she begrudgingly sees a doctor and receives a diagnosis that leaves her shaken to her core and with little time left. Facing an uncertain future, Palmer makes a bucket list, determined to do the things she’d only dreamed of before she goes.

Kent Wagner has dedicated his life to helping others. An army medic turned paramedic, he’s a regular at Palmer’s bank who makes his monthly car loan payments in person just to see her radiant smile. After responding to not one but two 911 calls involving Palmer, he learns about her bucket list. Touched by her circumstances—and needing a distraction from his own—Kent offers to take Palmer to the places on her list.

Neither is prepared for the emotional journey ahead…or how little time they have left together, but the friendship they find in that brief time might be the most lasting legacy of all.

description

Why do we get partners, husbands in life?......So that we don't walk alone.
Someone is a witness to your time in passing, to hold your hand to say

" You're not alone" he reminded her. "I'm here, and I'm going to be here whether you have a family waiting for you or not"

Exactly what Kent Wagner says to Palmer Sinclair. He's an EMT responder and a customer in the bank she's manager of. He crushes on her but hasn't had a chance to tell her before she collapses and is diagnosed with a terminal illness.
A shared bucket list is what brings them together on this journey of whatever is left of her life.
Since she's absolutely alone, nobody to laugh with her, mourn her, celebrate her, she reluctantly accepts his offer and proceeds to find love and happiness towards the fag end of her life.

''All her life Palmer had been alone, she'd never had someone in the corner rooting her on, or a mother at home making sure her homework is done, to kiss her scraped knee or braid her hair. She didn't have a father to teach her about cars or sports or hold her when she experienced her first heartbreak."

I knew this book would annihilate my heart. I knew it'd be an ugly cry fest. But also I knew what a beautiful journey it'd be. I went along, like Kent, even though we both were left alone when the trail ended with things still unchecked on the bucket list.
Tears in my eyes,my soul bursting with sentiments, this story took everything out of me, but I'm happy I read this amazing book.
5 stars for the promised future
