Screwed Up, an opposites-attract romantic comedy standalone in The Woolf Family Series by Eva LeNoir is available now!
A one-night stand. A little white lie. And a whole lot of shenanigans.
It all started at my brother’s California wedding. She was the bridesmaid. I was the best man.
Naturally, it was my duty and honor to take her for a wild ride down “O” Street. No strings attached; no numbers exchanged.
But six months and a little white lie later, Carla Reed is vacationing at my parents’ North Carolina home and suddenly all I can think about is attaching all the loose strings and making our one-night turn into a lifetime.
My plan is ironclad. Turn on the charm, flash my signature Woolf grin and sweep her right off her stiletto-clad feet. What could possibly go wrong?

Eva has a very slapstick style of humour, she gives each characters their unique quirks and then throws them in a chaotic situation and watches them screw up royally.
There's Byron Woolf who has trouble keeping his mouth shut and spewing inappropriate thoughts. His obsession with detail and hyper energy is a constant source of amusements, except for when he needs anchoring.
"Byron was a loose cannon, an unpredictable force of nature. "
He obviously has a huge crush (which he denies) and a craving for second helping of all gorgeous things of Carla Reed. Having tasted her once during his brothers weddings, he's the Boy who wants to keep going back for more.
"I do know my place and it’s on a throne. I’m Nefertiti. I’m Cleopatra. I’m Artemis and Aphrodite in the same breath. "
Carla is a goddess in her own right. Confident, no-nonsense go-getter, she has her priorities right and a sensible had screwed very right & tight on her slim shoulders.
Eva touches upon several sensitive subject very clandestinely too. A force in her own right, a successful career woman , yet Clara still experiences discrimination in day to day life. Be it from jealous girlfriends or snubbed employees but I loved that Eva enforces her more when the pressure increases. She hasn't created shrinking violets and that is very inspiring to read for women.
"Bitch, I am society.
I am self-sufficient, I’m young, I’m ambitious, and I am proud.
I am the poster child for the American Dream. "
I just wanna be Carla, she's a person to be emulated
Also the entire crazy Woolf clan is present. From the all knowing mama Ana, a wise & amorous Dad Peter who has no qualms about imparting words of wisdom to his sons who act like Dumbass sometimes.
"Don’t be afraid of the screaming, that means there’s passion behind her words.
But son, if she’s calm and quiet then you really screwed up because that means she’s coming for your balls."
They're a looney bunch of people with large-as-all-outdoors hearts in the right places.
It's a very welcoming story. inclusive, attentive and compassionate
And a laugh out loud riotous tale of mishaps in a given year of anniversaries and weddings.
And in the quiet corner is an animal loving Maya whose quiet agenda is rescuing/saving the world one animal at a time.
I'd love to sit at their table on Christmas watch the dramedy unroll!!!
5 stars for Friends With Spice
