We were a mess. A wild, beautiful, perfect mess, and that made me the happiest girl ever.
There's ultra sensitive topics being touched upon.
Shanora has very cautiously mentioned the difficult time our present has turned into. Racism, a dormant disease has reared its ugly head and she hints at it in this book. So it's the top of of interracial couples and the dangerous & thankless job our law enforcement does.
Cops. They are often misunderstood and overly criticized lot and what Derek Jennings goes through, changes him. Makes him nervous and vulnerable. And when in need you turn to a friend's shoulder to lean on. And if it's your lifelong friend who's been standing with you through thick & thin, you invite him in your family circle. He's there when you're in the hospital, in rehab, in therapy, babysits for you, goes with you on vacations, makes time for you at family Barbeques..
The toughest challenge comes when the most trusted and secure friend falls in love with your daughter, the angel in your life.
