A virtual smorgasbord of emotions for romance glutton like me. I salivated, swooned, suffered and smiled through this gripping book. A story of endurance, power of fated love and grief that eats away at hearts, had me in tears throughout. And they were big, fat & ugly.
Pepper is brutal and relentless in the punches she packs for readers on every page. It goes beyond readers delicate heart's tolerance at times. I had to close the book often cause the words became blurry among the deluge of tears that waterfalled from my eyes.

The horrifying experiences they go through, the painful longing for each other and all those times when they felt like giving up hope, it totally gutted me. The story flows seamlessly and in between is a 5 year gap which is told in past and present times alternatively for both characters.

We learn so much about Aslan Kara's past, his trial, tribulations, his tortures, his complete breakdown and reprogramming.
I have to tell you, it wreaked havoc on my soul. It was too much...seriously too much. 
As days turn into months, then into years, everyone loses hope....except for the heart of Neri that palpitates and skips for her other half. All the while enduring her own grief & loss, taking care of her family, silently scanning the horizons for her lost love.



“I felt all the pain, all the loss. I was torn open, split wide, and ever so empty. So, so empty because I finally accepted that my heart flutters were just my relentless pumping organ trying to remember how to beat without him. It wasn’t some link between him and me. The longing, the yearning, the unabated desire they feel for each other is ardent and alive despite their circumstances. It is absolutely painful to read. Their sadness consumed me and it was during many of these times that I felt crushed by their story. Life just didn't seem to give them a break.
