This sudden twist gave me a whiplash and left my jaw hanging open. But WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!
Events happen at a far racier speed than earlier books, the struggles of re-acclimatisation,anxiety of re-entry into civilisation and travails of a panicked heart.
"Who the fuck am I?
And who did I want to become?
In reality, that question was simple.
I was free.
Free.
And for the first time, I was afraid of that word. Afraid of the sheer size of it.

I need to mention that there are two scenes that Stand out nearer to climax. One in the woods where Kassen finds his sorta comrade-in-arms and the Tom factor. Both were gruelling and disturbing to start with but they both lead towards a path of peace and acceptance. This unexpected Turn of events and characters alone is worth 5 stars in my humble opinion.

Excellent storytelling skills combined with deeply moving sentiments seem to be Pepper's signature style, flourishing in dull regalia in this heartfelt series.
This must-read book/series is mesmerizing, captivating, and profound.
