Lj has carved a niche for herself and named it Alphahole Sector. Much to the delight of readers and consternation of some peers. She's unapologetically changed the character ingredients of a villainous hero.
Sam Brennan, an adopted child of Troy and Sparrow Brennan from Sparrow is our larger than life Angry Young Man , the downtrodden, abandoned child who doesn't believe in karma doing the job for him. This omnipotent hero extracts revenge on his own terms, by his own hands. He presides over his domain ruthlessly, with indomitable cunning, with hands soaked in blood and heart full of hate.
"He was a mystery, and mysteries were meant to be unearthed, uncovered, and unfolded. I’d finally caught his attention—snatched it against his will—grasping onto it with bloodied fingers, and I had every intention of keeping it."
Her prose as always is fascinating and mesmerizing, delving into the wronged person psyche. Leigh holds nothing back, be it in slashing dialogue, cutting verbiage or disembowelling sentiments.
YES, some emotions legit gut your insides. I cringed and recoiled at the stark poignancy of the mission that the heroine Aisling Fitzpatrick has undertaken at a high personal cost.
"You’re a monster and I’m a monster. We’re both demons, looking for our next pound of flesh."
Aisling intrigued me. Her role reversal, her self sacrificial lamb like personality had to be seen to be believed. Overburdened and under appreciated, she's the quintessential dark mare of the Fitzpatrick clan only to be pawned or used as a reliable favour.
"The doomed girl mourning her unrequited love"
I saw my own reflection at times in her, so she shall remain close to my heart from all the Boston Belles .
It's hard not to give anything away, even though the story is vast, Leigh keeps it centered around the lovely couple.
You can never keep a good writer down and that point is repeatedly proven by shen. Rest of them can go suck on a lemon.
