BOOK BLURB
My marriage is healing, and my baby girl is growing like a weed. So why does it seem like all good things are coming to an end?
Prison changes a man--or maybe he was always this corrupt and I was just too blind to see the monster hidden beneath the chains.
He still wants me but he can't have me.
It's about time someone showed him you don't always get what you want, and I'm going to be the one to do it.

EXCERPT
“You wanna call mommy?”
Her eyes are red and puffy with snot pouring down her face, and she’s so upset she’s choking herself every other cry.
I just know with each new sob she’s going to throw up all over us both.
I rub circles on her back in attempt to calm her down and it helps a little.
Reaching for my phone, I wince because it’s two hours ahead in Texas and it’s late, but I know she’d be more pissed if I didn’t call.
I scroll down to Leylah’s name and hit FaceTime.
Maddilyn calms down at the sight of seeing herself on the screen.
I pull her in closer to me while we wait for her to answer.
“Hey…” It’s dark on her end of the line and I can’t see anything until she flips on the lamp beside her bed.
“Mommy,” Maddy cries and sucks in the most pitiful sounding breaths I’ve ever heard as soon as her face pops up.
“Hi, baby. What’s wrong?”
Leylah pulls her comforter up over her chest and I feel guilty for even looking.
She’s still so beautiful, she hasn’t changed a bit. Besides the baby in her belly, that I didn’t give her. I look over to Maddy next to me, beyond relieved to see her mom.
She touches her face on the screen and I feel all kinds of things I’ve never felt before. I haven’t even had her for twenty-four hours and I’m second-guessing everything. Am I doing the right thing? I’ve never been as weak as I am now that I’ve allowed all these women in my life. They have a hold over me that nothing else can compare to.
“She’s upset. We were all good till bedtime.”
“Hold on a sec,” she whispers into the phone and the screen momentarily moves around and out of focus.
Leylah gets out of bed and walks into a different room.
I’m assuming because Ryan is asleep in the bed beside her and she didn’t want to wake him.
...Yeah, I’m still bitter about it.

The story can be defined as very human. People making mistakes, stumbling in life and working conscientiously to find their footing, rectifying their ways and doing right by the people they love.
"Forgiveness comes as you trust yourself again.”
It's very engaging, Book 2 much better than the first one actually. Brandi got the flow smoother, content more meatier and narration more speedier.

Having said that one thing bothered me a bit, I like a hot cover as any other reader, but what I feel is misleading when the cover goes against the story. With books glorifying bad boys, the good guys get sidelined in alpha worship. Cover is all Roman but for me the real hero is Ryan..hands down!!
"maybe this is my lifelong punishment, along with every other bad thing that keeps happening to me since I fucked up. I messed up so many people’s lives and one punishment wasn’t enough. They’re just going to keep coming and coming."

There's two guys in this story, Roman Blackhart and Ryan Foxworth. I tried hard to hate Ryan but somehow he comes out from the hiding and lands straight in my heart. Roman for all his alpha, macho personality doesn't make me feel sorry for him and that's the truth.
This book is a continuation of book 1- We Were Memories, so you have to read it first.
Sins of past come to haunt the Foxworth household in spades. Sometimes riding on A Harley, sometimes sneaking in their house in the middle of the night.
"The Foxworth household is about to get very real and real interesting when we walk through that door."

To be honest the story content was very powerful. Full of blind twists and turns,it gives shock treatment from start to finish. The characters go through so many up and downs it seriously resembled real life cause truth is definitely stranger than fiction.
Ryan and Victoria Decosta somehow were most endearing and human.. Their gracious hearts and capacity for forgiveness just amazed me. Leylah gained sympathy, she's just a victim of circumstances and got embroiled with the wrong person at the wrong time.

"I think she didn’t know what she wanted and got lost. You were simply just the wrong man, at the wrong time. Sometimes it really can be that simple.”"
I felt that Brandi wanted to say too much in a small span that it left many things unexplained. Blaze, Erin, Janice, Roman's life had too many blank spots. I was left wanting more..
Good debut by her and I'm sure she has many more stories for us to enjoy in the future.
4 stars. Run for your life Erin!!
