[Release Blitz, Giveaway & Book Reviews]: FAMILY TIES by Stephie Walls

Title: Family Ties
Author: Stephie Walls
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 21, 2018

Blurb

With a history like ours, the meaning of the word family tended to tangle into something unrecognizable. DNA and bloodlines didn’t tie us together, and neither did our last names. Various shades of grey blurred the branches of our twisted family tree.

I wasn’t her brother.
They weren’t my parents.
Not that it mattered…

She was off limits.

Portia was my friend.
Then my foster sister.
And she’d always be the love of my life.

Author Bio

Stephie Walls is a lover of words—the more poetic the better. She lives on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina in her own veritable zoo with two dogs, three cats, the Mister, and Magoo (in no preferential order).

She would live on coffee, books, and Charlie Hunnam if it were possible, but since it’s not, add in some Chinese food or sushi and she’s one happy girl.

I absolutely love the way Stephie Walls can draw you into a book just by the blurb. This book is exactly what the blurb states…

I wasn’t her brother.
They weren’t my parents.
Not that it mattered…

She was off limits.

Portia was placed with her foster family after she lost her mother from drugs. She was adopted by the loving couple who raised her since that day.

Jude was a in and out foster child. With no other family, he was placed in the home when his mother’s illness spiked.

Years have gone by; Jude and Portia were the children that Hensley and Ernie could never have. Family vacations, school functions, family dinners…they raised Jude and Portia like they were their own children.

When feelings get to be too much for these two to hide, is it truly wrong that they want to be together? Even though everyone sees them as brother and sister?

It’s a battle of right and wrong in their minds. Right because it feels so good when they are together. Wrong because they’ve been raised as brother and sister.

It’s a tug of war, back and forth, should we or should we not. Reasons vs. Doubt. Which side will win? At what cost to the people who have raised you as their own.

The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants
Let me start by saying that love follows no boundries, no age, no relations. It's wonder when Portia and Jude, foster kids in Shaw home, just stumble & fall in love. It's messy, conflicting, tearing, slaying love
This was the Portia I’d loved as a kid, through the various awkward stages of puberty, and now into adulthood—although each with a different passion.

description

Hearts oscillate between should we/shouldn't we constantly, which became annoying but I tota Lily get it. Social restrictions ,Tabboo relationship, which is technically not forbidden, but they are young kids. Moral compass is going haywire, physical reactions belie sensible morals.
I wasn't her brother
They weren't my parents
Not that it mattered......
She's off limits

At times, maybe few only, Portia seemed self absorbed and childish. Jude was angry and frothing with jealousy more than she was.  But at least he read smut. #GoJude!!
Pick up this slow burn story and watch your heart twist & hurt
